Filing a Mercurial Issue

When filing an issue from Mercurial source, here are some tips:

  • If the issue is a compile issue, it is recommended to wait a day or two. These issues are usually fixed within 24 hours, with or without tickets being filed.
  • Don't file tickets about warnings. We see them too, guaranteed. Either we will fix it, or we can't fix it.
  • Before filing, be sure to rebuild Adium. Here are some tips for doing this:
    • Double broom it.
    • Be sure to quit Xcode and restart it.
    • For login issues, restart Adium while holding shift, then connect one account at a time. This will narrow down the account that is having the problem, enabling you to provide us with as much information as possible about that specific account.
    • Try it with a different OS X user account.
    • Try a fresh checkout: hg update -C will remove any local changes.
  • Include the following in your ticket:
    • Mac OS X version
    • Revision of your Mercurial checkout: hg identify
    • What steps you took to diagnose the issue
    • What steps you took to attempt to fix the issue
    • What version of Xcode you used (remember that you need at least version 3.1.1)
    • What happened
    • What was expected to have happened
  • Check back at your ticket periodically, until it is fixed. If we request information on an issue, those are heavily monitored.
