I would guess that this means that spotlight just hasn't indexed them yet...

Replying to jas8522:

Even after I force spotlight to redo the index, I still do not have any of my searches access any of my entries before the reinstall, despite the fact I can access them in the chat transcript viewer.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Recently my hard drive crashed, so I had the opportunity to play around with it a bit more. I tried copying my log files after install and before launching the application as well as after launching the application (after I confirmed it was a bad hard drive). The first time it actually correctly indexed my log files and I could search through all my old logs; this didn't happen if I tried including the log files at a later time. Only conclusion I can come up with is there is an initial indexing of where the log files start and this date is never checked again after first launch.

Sounds likely...

As a solution to this problem, why don't we just include an "Adium logs" option under the Import menu. The option would simply have to copy the logs into the logs folder, and start indexing them.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

(In [26917]) Adds "Reindex Adium Logs" to the Import menu. When the user manually adds logs to our Logs folder, we don't know they are new, so we don't bother to dirty them. This forces all logs to be marked as dirty. Fixes #9554.
