we could just use the vectory ducks:

they look really nice, and they'll scale forever ;-)

comment:3 Changed 12 years ago by Jordan

I think that's a fantastic idea, not only will they scale nicely, but they have that 'high contrast' look to match other icons for Leopard.

We should get permission from the creator and go for that...

Hmm, though we would need to get some of the status ducks redone. Not only for consistency, but I'm just not a huge fan of that away duck (for example)... the "away" sign is much nicer.

I also just noticed that Adiumy still looks pixelated even when using those icons... perhaps they were converted to a smaller PNG.

There's a PSD of Adiumy at over 512x512 from Adam Betts floating around. I'll see if it's on my hard drive somewhere..

I don't think we should switch to Vector Ducks.

I prefer our current Adiumy to the Vector Ducks.

I can't find the PSD locally, though I swear I had it at some point. Zac, if you can put your hands on it, please commit it to the repository :)

I have the PSD. It's 460×460—too small.

Vector ducks.. ya, I don't like them. They're not adiumy.

According to Preview all the dock icons in the Resources folder for 1.2b1 are 128x128. This remains the same in my 1.2svn checkout ... we sure that commit worked?

Milestone: Good idea for "later"Adium X 1.2

This should have been fixed in [21887]. But it created another problem, all the animations that appear as dock 'badges' are scaled down with the Adiumy icon, such that they look extremely small compared to Adiumy. This needed a broom and build to ensure it used the new icons.

See attached pic for details - you can see the away sign is really really miniature!

Oh, the Adium -> About Adium window also scales Adiumy differently now... he's too big to fit!

comment:15 Changed 12 years ago by Evan Schoenberg

Update: The dock still displays at a max of 128x128, and it scales Adiumy @ 512x512 pretty poorly down to 128x128. Look at the difference between the fullsize icon shown in Quick Look and the maximum size (128x128) icon drawn in the Dock when the image sent to setApplicationImage is 512x512. We don't want that; we only actually want 512x512 for the app icon on-disk which Finder and Quick Look display.

(In [21898]) Made AIIconState match the overlay image size to the working image size rather than assuming the two are the same size. (I'm about to make this superfluous, but this futuresafes the drawing process a bit). Refs #8289

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

(In [21900]) All dock states for the built-in icons are now 128x128 (this isn't actually a reversion, since we're using the updated [with brighter colors and some sharper lines] images which were supplied by Adam Betts at 512x512 before). A single sleeping Adium at 512x512 is specified as the Application Icon for use in the Finder. Fixes #8289
