#6929 closed defect (fixed)

Dropping .textClipping-files does not work

Reported by: CalganX Owned by:
Milestone: Adium X 1.1 Component: Message View
Version: Severity: normal
Keywords: textclipping drag drop Cc:
Patch Status:

Problems with this were already posted in #1689. But this ticket has been closed and my report ist slightly different.

When you have some .textClipping-file (drag and drop some text on the desktop for example) and what to paste it in Adium you should be able to just drop the file in the MessageView-window. That's the way it works in most other OS X-application. But Adium thinks you want to drop a regular file and tries to send it via File transfer. This fails with the error, Adium can't send 0byte-files.

There should be a patch, that reads the content from the .textClipping-file and pastes it into the message view.

Problem exists with 1.0.3, 1.0.4b1 and 1.1svn.

I've addressed this before... not sure why it didn't stay fixed.

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

(In [20015]) Fixed drag & drop of text clippings to properly insert their RTF contents. Improved determination of whether to accept a drop as text or an image, fixing a problem when doing a drag & drop from Microsoft Word and other applications which offer to give the text as an image. Fixes #6929.

[18705] is the revision responsible for causes #6929, though that revision fixed other problems in the process.
