#6636 closed defect (cantreproduce)

Address Book contact images used even though preference not set

Reported by: incandescant Owned by: nobody
Milestone: Component: Adium UI
Version: Severity: normal
Keywords: address book display picture overwrites service Cc:
Patch Status:

Contacts who are in my address book have their icons set to the images from address book, even though I don't have the preference set. This is happening in both 1.0.2 and SVN 19285.

Not sure how long this has been happening but I only noticed it today when I had several buddies who had images in address book online at once.

Deleting my Adium caches (~/Library/Caches/Adium) and preferences (~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0) didn't fix this.

I cannot confirm this bug. The only service I am using that has contacts with images in address book is MSN. For this, my contact in address book does indeed have the primary email address included and matching their contact on MSN. Their picture is NOT replaced by the one in the address book. As a result of this, my guess is that it only happens with AIM.

Can anybody confirm my suspicion and try this out with AIM by setting up the contact in address book and adding an image there? If you do try this out, please make sure of a few things:

  1. You have the option to overwrite existing contacts icons unchecked in the Advanced preferences for Adium
  2. You try this with the Adium 1.0.3 beta and enable logging from the Adium -> Debug Window
  3. You attach the debug log as well as any seemingly relevant console output here from around the time your contact image changed to the one from address book.
