#6232 closed defect (fixed)

Failure to display custom emoticons with incorrect filenames

Reported by: jmpp Owned by: nobody
Milestone: Adium X 1.0.2 Component: Adium Core
Version: Severity: normal
Keywords: custom emoticons Cc: Evan Schoenberg
Patch Status:

Description

As discovered by Evan and I, all custom emoticons are being forced an on-disk .gif file extension, while some of them might be some other image format. Adium 1.0 fails to display these on Panther due to the file extension mismatch, while also failing to display the missing image quetion mark since there's actually no problem in receiving & downloading the image. Tiger users are not affected due to the OS' ability to handle files with incorrect extensions, but that doesn't imply imposing the .gif extension is the right thing to do ;-)

Since 1.1 drops 10.3 support, this needs to be resolved in 1.0.x or not at all. However, we need to put out crash fixes in 1.0.1
