Description

Any chance we could get a pref flag (or just make it the default action) to auto-accept DIMs? Basically, bring back the "old" behavior.

Replying to DhruvK:

Or better yet, auto-accept DIMs from users on your buddy list and ask for users not on your buddy list. I don't care if any of my buddies know my IP, but I might not want any random person to be able to find out my IP given my screenname.

For clarification: By "old" behavior DhruvK means the Adium 1.0b1 through 1.0b15 behavior (joscar). The current 1.0b19 behavior is identical to that of 0.89.1.

(In [19667]) Automatically accept direct IM requests from contacts on our contact list. Fixes #5934

comment:6 Changed 13 years ago by Zachary West

One problem with that solution, evan, is the "recent buddies" feature of AIM which libpurple does ot support the disabling of. Does it only apply to people who message you, or ones you message in return also?

If it's the former, a user could message you, then later DIM you to grab your current IP address.

Oh, that's a good call :\

I think "recent buddies" folks should be considered strangers for this purpose.. and also for the purpose of deciding whether to show the "Add Contact" contextual menu item for that contact, as I've been confused before when I couldn't add a contact I knew I hadn't added myself because the person was automatically on my list.

(In [19674]) Only autoaccept a DIM request if the contact is intentionally listed. Refs #5934"
