#4983 closed defect (fixed)

cmd-n prompt will not auto complete users from .mac

Description

I'll try to be descriptive without overdoing it...

hitting cmd-n brings up the nifty New Message to <blah> dialog, which is handy as hell for us keyboard junkies, and the way it handles usernames is nice, because it will work via the user-defined aliases, or the screenames...UNLESS the user in question is on .Mac. i don't know how many ohter protocols are affected by this, but any contact on my list who uses a .mac account will not autocomplete, i have to type out their full screenname including the @mac.com part, in order for it to work. Their aliases do not work either. This can't be too hard to fix :-\

Is this still a problem in the current AdiumBeta?

comment:2 Changed 14 years ago by peelman@…

As far as i can tell it still is. It still only affects .mac users, i haven't been able to find a similar effect with other protocols (but i'm only using MSN and Jabber, and this may simply be related to the .mac accounts being a seperate account type in Adium, and yet being interchangable with AIM stuff)

How about now, with the 1.0.2 release and/or the new AdiumBeta?

Yes, its still an issue unfortunately, for me anyway. Neither aliases nor the screenname will autocomplete.

This is a result of comparing -service of the contact with -service of the account in AIAccountPlusFieldPromotController.m. This probably also effects GTalk and Jabber in the same way.

A possible solution might be to also check if the contact is on the account we're going to message (instead of only comparing service type), which should cover most possible situations.
