Keywords: icq no contact list Cc:
Patch Status:

Description

Summary

It is possible to connect to ICQ throught Adium 1.4.1, but it doesn't show any groups nor contacts of ICQ. MSN for example is showing contacts. It is on Mac OSX 10.6.5 with Adium 1.4.1 (fresh installation of both; before it worked).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Starting Adium
  2. Connect to ICQ network

Expected results

Seeing the contact list + contacts of ICQ

Actual results

Neither contacts nor groups of the ICQ network are displayed. In e.g. MSN they are displayed.

Regression

Adium 1.4.1, Mac OSX 10.6.5; Happens all the time with this system. Before formatting, it worked perfectly.

i think your problem is only on newer adium versions? can you test old adium edition? works with new icq number from icq.com site, nitro?

see one bugreport on win/linux edition http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/13386 and i think this is a bug in libpurple?

Yeah, I agree, this is very likely a libpurple issue.

Replying to Robby:

Yeah, I agree, this is very likely a libpurple issue.

The simple fix is online and is coming with 2.7.11 (win/linux), see http://developer.pidgin.im/viewmtn/revision/diff/018335d39d5488d4512acce61adbb0318d01334f/with/a657534f694305a613db4946ca8ea9ab4c8f1c1d/libpurple/protocols/oscar/oscar.c or in the ticket http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/13386

Please add the fix to adium, thanks.

Thanks for assisting Mark with debugging. We will update libpurple for 1.4.2. :)

(In c6a5d600fdba) ?libpurple 2.7.11 [im.pidgin.adium.1-4 @ 6a027e41a13240f7b76e4f040795ac3c209133b1]

Fixes #14965 (Adding MMSN buddies #p13298). Fixes #14650 (UPnP crash). Fixes #14901 (ICQ contact list loading problem). Fixes #14527 (XMPP '_ entered the room' message flood on joining conferences).

Public thanks to Robbie Vehse for compiling that list (posted to an adium-devl thread)... and of course to our friends on the libpurple team upstream.
