#12006 closed enhancement (fixed)

Add warning if window is closed with multiple tabs open

Description

Now that we have IRC support it would be really helpful to have some kind of warning if you try to close a window that has multiple discussions open, so it's a little harder to accidentally close a window and leave any joined channels.

Where would such an option go?

A sheet, I would expect.

Sorry, to be more precise, a sheet would appear with the warning that multiple tabs are open, with "cancel" and "close" buttons, and a checkbox below that would say something like "Don't warn me again".

That seems like something you'd want as an opt in, no?

Maybe we could have a "Confirmation" category in Advanced, and move Quit Confirmation there (I can never find it in Advanced Status)?

Not totally sold, here.

  • Milestone set to Adium 1.4

I'm not very sold on this either... you have to very deliberately move your mouse to the close button for the window and click it (if I'm not mistaken) since cmd-w closes just the open tab and cmd-q will confirm before closing if set to do so already...

Let it also be known (for consistency) that Safari doesn't confirm before closing the window when the same action is taken, despite having the "Confirm before closing multiple tabs or windows" option checked. The option apparently does the same as the Adium setting by making this an on-quit action.

We should decide for the release of 1.4 on yes or no... no sense dragging it out.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

(In 08aa9c3a346c) Create a new advanced preference called "Confirmations". Move Quit Confirmations there.

Adds a new confirmation type for closing message windows with more than 1 tab open. Fixes #12006.

This new preference has two options: always confirm, only confirm when there's unread content. Displays an alert sheet when trying to close the window.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
