Description
When are you going to support ssl connections to AIM/ICQ servers?
address: slogin.oscar.aol.com ports: 5190 or 443
iChat is already using ssl connections.

I disagree. Although I realize libpurple could support this, there's no reason that Adium can't simply allow the user to connect on a user-specified port and enable SSL. This could be done in Adium with minimal effort.

The aforementioned libpurple code has been merged into im.pidgin.pidgin and will be in the next release of Pidgin and, as of [25947] and [25949], is in Adium's libpurple framework. I believe the only remaining step is to add the GUI account option for toggling SSL.

Take a read through the wiki - it is written in many places that we are using libpurple for all connectivity of services. This implies that this would need to be supported in libpurple before we get it in Adium.
