adding a "Show Contact List" item to Adium menu-bar icon

Adium has a Menu-bar icon that allows access to some functions, include the "bring Adium to Front" Item.

My request is : can we have a "show Contact List" item in this Menu-bar item icon ?

The problem is when the contact list is not open.

I actually agree, there are some things I would like to be able to add to this menu; most of all 'show contacts', and maybe also an item to write a new message to a contact (with a submenu similar to the current account status selection, so that I could select 'Adium icon' -> 'New message...' -> 'peter').

It's imo simpler than switching application focus; plus the shortcut for opening the contacts window is exotic enough that I keep forgetting it and use the application menu anyway, which means writing a new message has these steps: - switch to adium via menubar item, dock, alt-tab or exposé (between 1..2 klicks/keypresses) - click "Windows" -> "Contacts" (2 clicks) - double click on a contact to start the message

...which means at minimum I'll need three clicks and an additional double click, and most of all a lot of moving around the mouse in between.

I'm not sure if that gets my point across; I'm basically saying that when I decide I want to write to someone it often seems like it requires a lot of steps to get there.

I agree as well, even better, I'd like th option to show my contact list in the menu per iChat

The current feature of 'Bring Adium to Front' works and this may be added in the future

Agree - this is a really nice simple feature in iChat and works well with just one click for those of us that don't like to have X amount of windows around.

I think it's far better than the current Adium menulet entry that brings it to the front as it assumes that you have the contact lists open and not minimized to the dock.

Surely a 'Contact List...' entry could bring Adium to the front if the contact list and chats are open or simply open the contact list if it's closed?

(In [19235]) Adds a hide/show contact list to status menu bar. One issue remains: if the menu bar is started after adium is launched, it assumes the contact list is hidden. I don't see any way to poll this information, I'll look into it more. Fixes #772.
