Description
Previous to version 0.80, Adium allowed logs to be saved either in HTML or in plaintext. Unfortunately, in 0.80, the plaintext option was removed. Although for most users this will not matter, some (including myself) much prefer the older plaintext logs for several reasons.
The first, and lesser, reason is simply cosmetic: HTML logs preserve colour and other formatting, whereas I (and, I believe, others) prefer not to have these colours. More importantly, however, it reduces parsability in grep and other such programs, which is sometimes a necessity (especially when Adium's search fails to find all instances of a word, for instance).
This certainly isn't a major issue, but I would greatly appreciate it if plaintext logs were reinstated in a newer version.

- They do not preserve color. The only "Formatting" saved by logs are bold, italic, and underline.
- It would be better to fix the bugs you're describing with the logger (have you opened a ticket on these?) rather than requesting a preference to work around the issue.

Actually, that's not entirely true. It does preserve colours in the names, even if it doesn't in the messages themselves.

No, it is true. The colors are added to names as Adium loads the log, not written to the file.

I'd like to second the request, having just noticed that logs are no longer plain text.
Plain text logging was actually a feature that brought me over to Adium, in the first place because so many clients don't allow it. I like to be able to use tools like grep on my logs, and to view them when I'm shelled into my system remotely. I feel that HTML and RTF are too cumbersome for what really needs to only contain the text content. To be perhaps more clear- I can uunderstand why formatted logs might be more appealing to the majority of users- it's merely an option that I feel would be useful.

I support this request. It was present in previous versions of Adium, there's no reason for it to have been removed. The problem I have with the colored logs is that copypasting them from the log viewer preserves the color, and the place I paste it to may not be color-friendly. Besides, we're not asking you to remove HTML logging as the default, just put back the flexibility that was already availible before.
