Msn wont connect, continuing to ask for password

Hi Guys,

This is a new one. I have been using Adium for around 3 years and after the last version (1.0.2) this error has been occuring. I thought it would have been fixed in 1.0.3 but alas no.

Whats happening is when Adium is trying to connect to the MSN network it tries then the offline status in the Accounts screen goes grey and the Connecting Account pop up comes up with 'Please Enter your Account password'

After entering my correct aacount password it goes away for a second or two then comes back asking again. This happen continuosly. My normal Messenger works absolulty fine.

HELP! I'd rather use Adium than MSN messenger!

i have the same problem, although only with one of my two hotmail accounts. one of them i've been using for ages, also with previous versions of adium, and it always worked (and still works) fine. the other one i've been using for about 6 months for mail, and never used with adium versions prior to 1.0.2. adium cannot connect to it -- like in Chris' post, it continuously asks for the password (although of course i check the "remember my password" -- and i'm sure the password is correct), and never manages to connect.

i've tried disabling the old one, thinking adium might have a problem connecting to two different accounts for the same protocol, but it didn't help. i haven't tried deleting the old one though, i still want to be able to connect to both accounts at the same time. right now i'm using MSN messenger for my second account, but needless to say i'm not happy with that...

Yes I looked and tried all suggestions @ 2925 and still no luck. Somethings changed from either update 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 or at the Microsoft end. Its a pain to have two chat clients open but that's what I have to do until this gets fixed somewhere!

We'll see what happens for 1.0.4 since there should at least be an AdiumBeta for 1.0.4 soon. If that doesn't help at all, we may have to get you to send your full username to feedback@… and reference this ticket.

You can try  this build of 1.0.4 (early beta) which has the debug window enabled. Go to the Adium menu -> Debug Window and enable debug logging.

Reproduce the problem, then attach the debug log here.

Tried the 1.0.4 Beta build and it wouldn't connect for about three times then it connected fine once. I then downloaded the 1.0.4 version (non-beta) but cannot connext to MSN. :(

And cannot find the saved logs either!

Ok, here is an interesting thing I just worked out. I go through a proxy server here like most people. I just found an old version of Adium (ver 0.72) and I can connect to the MSN network using it with proxy settings enabled and 'connect using HTTP'. This connects fine. BUT, when I do the same thing with the 1.0.4 version (and with 1.0.2, 1.0.3) the online and offline status flashing on and off and does not connect.

Maybe I go back to using 0.72? no, i dont think so. Somethings changed through the versions along the line.
