German umlaute in away messages

I already read some bug reports. But still none over the umlaute in away messages.

Ä, Ü, Ö and ä, ü, ö aren't shown correctly sometimes. Here is a screenshot:  http://sk8t.sk.funpic.de/adium.png

Is this a problem in the current AdiumBeta?

WFM in b15 using ICQ.

Can you provide any more info on reproducing this?

I also have this problem. It exists only in b15. I once mentioned this problem in the IRC and some developer, maybe The_Tick or Catfish_Man told me that there was nothing they could because the ICQ protocol couldn't handle Unicode or something...

What encoding are you using in the options for your ICQ account in Adium?

I use ISO-8859-1. I don't think I ever made a change.

Robby, are you connected with an AIM account or an ICQ account while you're viewing that ICQ contact's away message?

Well, I was online with both but I disconnected AIM. The umlaut was still displayed incorrectly. Then I connected to AIM with iChat. It actually had the same problem.

Also, I would like to add, this doesn't affect only umlauts but also the french acutes and graves which, I think, hints to a general problem with diacritics.

I have the same problem in version 1.0.1 (and also had it back in the 0.x versions). But it appears only with ICQ Accounts, i just tested it with AIM and it worked fine (same in Jabber). I tried to set another encoding in the account preferences but it had no effect on the status messages. Isn't it strange that the wrong encoding appears only in the status messages? In the actual chats the umlauts are displayed correctly.
