Request: ICQ invisible/offline users to stay on contact list after initial contact

Description

I have several ICQ users that insist on always remaining on invisible status when they are online. It would be great if Adium can mimic the behaviour of ICQ's own client for this corner scenerio. In their case after an invisible user has initially sent you a message, their contact name would stay on my "active" users list until sign-off, but shown in an offline or invisible status, allowing me to easily send them another message once I close the initial chat window. Adium does not behave this way currently.

Not having this feature in Adium means that the only way I can communicate with these users at present is to show all my offline users, which makes my userlist unmanagable even at the smallest font sizes.

I don't think feature this would have detremental effect to Adium, but it might mean some funky workarounds depending on how the userlist is handled. If it's painful to impliment it's not the end of the world, but this would be a preferable behaviour. I imagine this would be very useful for other Adium users as well.

GREAT client, keep up the good work. It's nice to see GPL applications on OSX ... and even nicer to see developers that obviously put in that little extra as you folk do. One of the only applications I use on a daily basis that I haven't filed bug reports on in fact :)

I am not experiencing this problem. Is this a ticket for the TTT?

Replying to Robby:

If you notice, this is an enhancement request... Therefore you shouldn't be seeing this since it's a feature that doesn't exist and thus it would be rather futile to try to have people test it ;)

I know it is marked as an enhancement request. It's because the author thinks "Adium does not behave this way currently". I believe Adium does...

I know it does for online users. Not sure about offline, or whether it applies to ICQ (I use AIM more often).

As far I've noticed it's the same with offline users and it definitely applies to ICQ (I use it more often ;)).

mguertin@…: If you could try the 1.0 betas and let us know if Adium behaves the same way as in 0.89 with regards to offline users, that would be great.

This type of behavior should be classified as the same as this bug:  #2706 as it deals with proper handling of the ICQ Invisible status. Please update #2706 for any additional comments or debugging.
