Hi!

Group name display cuts off the information of available contacts in that group, with long group names.

Example: create a group named "abcdefghijklmnopqrst", and the available contact numbers won't be displayed:

"Default (0 of 0)"

"abcdefghijklmnopq..."

A solution might be to split that field, i.e. to align the available contact counter to the right, calulating the remaining space, then fit the left side aligned group name text into the field, if necessary, abbreviating it with "..."

I wonder if truncating the middle for groups would make sense. Looking at my own usage, there are groups with similar beginnings whose endings make them unique, so with a narrow list Adiu...ers is more useful than Adium ... for Adium Users

Could others please weigh in on which truncation style appears to be more useful?

"slightly bigger" is a no-solution: the problem itself persists: just type an even longer group name.

I prefer the following truncation style:

"Adiu...ers (10/99)"

or only

"Adiu...ers"

...to stick with the aforementioned example.

(In [14781]) Group names are now truncated in the middle rather than the end, which I think is generally more useful. Let's try this out and see if it feels good.
