sending failure with notice: timeout

Hi folks, another newbe. Using OS 10.3.9, Ibook G4 through LAN with devolo Microlink ADSL Modem Router I cant send messages. Using adium I can see my MSN contacts being online. I can receive their messages, but I keep on failing sending my on ones. Always same notice: A message may not have been sent; a timeout occurred. Exactly after on minute. Is that now a problem of the firewall on the book? the routers firewall?? I have being trying to learn about port openings, but I am seriously to stupid to work it up. I need real pro help on this.
