Contact Name Format Not Displaying properly at login

I have my Contact Name format in Adium set to "Alias (User Name)." Everything was working great until a few days ago when I added my hotmail account and a second AIM account into Adium.

Whenever I sign in now my buddy list window displays only the Alias. 3 or 4 of the buddies are listed properly with the Alias (User Name) but the rest (extreme majority) are listed only as the Alias. I can go back to "View" -> "Contact Name format" -> "Alias (User Name)" and everything pops back how it should be. I tried removing the other accounts from Adium since I noticed the problem first happening after I added them -- I still get the same problem.

I have restarted my computer (G4 Laptop, 15" running OS 10.4 Tiger, 512mb of RAM) and the problem still persists. It only happens when I first open Adium.

I can give more information if you need. I was planning on just waiting till 0.83 comes out, but if it keeps happening, I'm not sure what to do. It's weird that it only started happening when I added a 2nd AIM account, an MSN account and an ICQ account.

Nope, they're regular AIM contacts. They haven't been combined or anything - just plain regular contacts :/

From a quick glance I think it looks like all the users that I added from within Adium properly display the "Alias (User Name)" format, however all the buddies that were added from regular AIM (in my case, AIM for windows... before I switched to a Mac) do NOT show up with the User Name and instead are in just the "Alias" format.

Is this going to get addressed? The version associated with this ticket has already passed and should be updated since the bug still exists.

Version is the version it was reported in, not the version it is planned to be fixed in.

I have an ICQ account and the problem looks similar. Since version 0.85 AdiumX couldn't retrieve contacts' aliases on login. I select "Aliases" or Aliases (User Name)" in "View" but the aliases simply don't show up. Only when I retrieve "User Info" aliase appeares but it is lost after relogin.

Also when adding new contact his aliase is retrieved correctly. But after relogin it is lost.

Before v. 0.85 everything worked ok.

Currently I'm using MacOSX 10.3.9 with all updates and AdiumX 0.86.

Got the same problem here with ICQ.

The strange thing: Some contacts show the right alias on startup some others not. And I haven't added any of those using Adium. They were all added using ICQ (either Win or Mac)

Ah hah - original issue reported occurs with meta contacts (recall that two contacts are transparently a metacontact if listed on 2 accounts in the same group).

(In [14135]) When a metacontact is created, it previously assumed it had only one contact within it; at this point, however, it has 0 contacts. When it later gets its first contact, its formattedUID should be the samee as the contact so that the alias+user name and username+alias list formats display the username as expected. Fixing the default value of containsOnlyOneUniqueContact corrects the situation. Fixes #226
