Error message when sending files

I get a panel that says 'I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't let you do that.'

and it has an icon of a black monolith.

Try selecting the Adium > Central Core... menu item and deselect all of the checkboxes in the "Mental Faculties" group. It might start playing a poorly encoded MP3 of "Daisy Bell"; I'd suggest muting your computer beforehand.

Solution: Type this into Terminal and hit enter:

defaults write com.adiumX.adiumX.starChild -BOOL yes

You may need to restart Adium (or be kept in a sealed hotel room setting) for the changes to take effect.

I'm a little weary of this solution. starChild is known to cause nuclearExplosion in the atmosphere class.
