Ticket #13626 (new defect)

Opened 2 years ago

Last modified 20 months ago

disorderly, possibly confused timeline for at least one of multiple StatusNet connections

Reported by: grahamperrin Owned by: zacw
Milestone: Component: Service/StatusNet-Identi.ca
Version: 1.4b17 Severity: normal
Keywords: Cc:
Patch Status:

Description

Summary

One window, two tabs, a StatusNet timeline in each of the two. (Names of the two are indistinguishable: #13604.) In the second tab, I expected to find notices on my brainbird.net timeline. Instead:

  • I found notices that I'm fairly sure were from a different timeline
  • the dates were disorderly — 29th, 27th, 28th, 29th December.

Steps, summarised, to the best of my recollection

  1. launch Adium
  2. connect to Identi.ca StatusNet service
  3. some time later, connect to brainbird.net StatusNet service
  4. some time later, browse the second tab

Expected results

In the second tab:

  • notices from my brainbird.net timeline
  • orderly (most recent at the foot)

Actual results

  • AFAICT, at least some notices from my identi.ca timeline
  • 29th December at the head and the foot
  • 27th and 28th December in the midst
  • control-click the second tab, Advanced Settings tab, Account menu defaulted to identi.ca (with brainbird.net as an option).

Notes

#13604 may be relevant. AFAIR when I wrote  http://trac.adium.im/ticket/13604#comment:1 the Account menu showed only one account, but I can't recall whether I had both tabs (to the two StatusNet services) open at the time.

http://status.net/trac/ticket/1991#comment:7 was written a little earlier today, before reporting this Adium bug. In that comment:

possible that temporarily reconfiguring Adium to not use SSL helped to work around the issue

but now: I wonder whether the issue was symptomatic of confusion between two accounts.

I haven't noticed this issue before but did see some jumbling between accounts today (while running my test build with the fix for #13604, so having the timeline tabs distinguished doesn't totally resolve it).

Only jumbled ones I noticed were in the backscroll displaying old items from before current session, though.

The attachment to  http://identi.ca/conversation/24460779#notice-24393219 shows two entirely different services on a single timeline.

  • Component changed from Adium Core to Service/Other

I suppose this remains a problem in 1.4b18?

brion, would you perhaps be able to provide a patch? :)

Past few days getting the "unable to validate credentials" with (private) tech4all.status.net account Friend also having the same issue as we speak. SSL is turned off Show people I follow in the contact list is de selected as well

The validation error is an unrelated issue; fix for that is going in on our server side today.

I suspect the timeline-jumbling might be related to some of the other notes about problems with multiple accounts; once other things are stabilized a bit I'll see if I can sort those out. Ticket #13604 I have an old patch for but I'm not quite sure that's right. #13494 looks like it might be separate issue, but worth a look.
