Facebook Contacts snap-back to Facebook Group

Steps to reproduce

1. Get Info on any Facebook Contact. Combined Contacts containing at least one facebook account also work.
2. Drag or use Get Info pane to change the group of this contact.
3. Deselect or close the Get Info pane or relaunch Adium to see it magically snap back to the Facebook group

Expected results

I expect to be able to sort my contacts for facebook the same as for any other service.

Actual results

Combined contacts now appear in two groups, doubling the screen/list real-estate they take up. Some people prefer them to be in multiple groups and I appreciate that feature but I still want to have the singular group mode.

Regression

This seemed to really start to give me grief in versions 1.4b14 and 1.4b15. I didn't notice it in 1.4b13

If this is not a bug or a duplicate of another ticket I would appreciate knowing a workaround to get the facebook grouping to function normally

The steps taken to generate this log: Open debug window Open contact info window from the group Facebook <<CLEAR>> Select Facebook account(s) from drop down menu of settings pane of contact info window Add new group "Rygon Falls..." to contact Remove Facebook group from contact. Close Info Window (Contact reverts to facebook group)

This was originally fixedin #9846 so this makes it a regression.

Possibly caused by the implementation of Facebook 'groups' in Libpurple.

I am still having issues as described here. I can still repeat all the steps to recreate the issue.

I'm having similar issues. Although for me it's not a group called Facebook, it's a group called "Other Friends".

I've even logged into my facebook account in my browser and created lists (groups) there that are named the same as the groups i'm using in all my other accounts (MSN, Yahoo, AIM, etc), and things then display correctly in Adium, for the most part, however, each of my facebook friends now shows in Adium both in the group I've assigned them to, but also in another group called "Other Friends".

To remove them from that group I've tried: 1. Drag each from that group to the group I want them in. 2. Get Info on the contact in the "Other Friends" group, go to the rightmost pane (with the green chalkboard icon), choose my facebook account from the "Account" popup, then the contact appears in the "Contact:" popup in the "Other Friends" group. I press the minus button to delete that, and then the plus button to add the contact to the group I want him/her in.

Each of these methods appears to work initially, but later the contacts reappear in the "Other Friends" group again.

Note my similar issues are in Adium 1.4b16. I've created another ticket to discuss them because (a) this ticket seems to be closed, and (b) it's a slightly different issue. The ticket number I created is #13516.

Agreed. b16 has not completely fixed this issue. I must note that I have been able to move some of my contacts to other groups using the steps in original post. However the latest attempt has snapped back twice now.
