Contact list is empty the first time Adium runs after an update.

After quitting and re-launching Adium my buddies are back and everything is ok. Sorry - I've never got to try having a buddy contact me WHILE the bug is evident so I'm unsure what else is affected. My accounts DO show as connected in the File menu.

Hopefully next time it occurs I'll have a chance to do some troubleshooting. Sorry if this is a bit of a useless report :-)

I'm on a late 2007 2.8GHz 24" iMac with 2GB RAM and 10.5.4.

I really doubt that the trigger for this is first run after an update, as I've had this happen during a random launch, and I've also had it NOT happen after an update.

Prior to today, with previous releases and betas of Adium, I had not seen this empty Contacts List issue. Because of bugs in 1.3b10, I have been using b9. I have multiple versions of Adium, so they've been renamed - eg Adium 1.3b9.app. (just saying the above to describe my environment; no idea if it's part of the problem or not).

Today's steps: 1) While running 1.3b9 today, I received the dialog offering b11. 2) Told it to update. Eventually it quit and relaunched. 3) Upon relaunch, Adium connected my various accounts but then never drew anything in the Contacts window.

The File menu (and Accounts prefs) looked normal, showing the appropriate accounts were connected. View/Show All Contacts did the normal window reize, to the height of my screen, but still showed no contacts. Closing the window and re-opening it didn't help either. Relaunch the app and all is fine.

Relaunch again, and the Contacts window is empty... Relaunch again, and the Contacts window is working normally... And now I cannot get it to fail?!

There is nothing abnormal in console or system.log. I've enabled debug logging in Adium but now it's working perfectly!

300-MHz G3 Smurf, Tiger w/ all updates.

Will post more if I can get it to do it again...

A user in #adium reported that after updating to 1.3.1, something similar to this happened. He fixed it by switching his window type preference.

It appears to be a display issue; the log shows the contact list from each account being retrieved.
