ICQ iChat messages come in as HTML rather than readable text

Description

Did I search and it looks like #3166 is back?

Messages I receive from an ICQ user using iChat comes in with HTML tags and is difficult to read. This applies to normal text and links as well.

Please reopen - I still see this bug when chatting in the current Adium beta (1.4b17). I am running Adium under OS X 10.6.2 and my chat partner is running the iChat in Snow Leopard. (Which uses iChat 5.x, so opi88’s comment does not seem to be true in this case.

Please tell me if you need more feedback or any other kinds of logs.

Potentially interesting side note: messages by the same contact that have been sent while I have been logged off display correctly.

Another info if you want to fix this in adium: Whenever I start a file transfer (when the chat partner didn't have the iChat beta yet), the HTML disappears for a while (though the file is not transmitted most of the time). I think it has something to do with the "direct connection" mode as this is mentioned every time when file transfer starts (fails?) and the HTML disappears.

I deleted my Adium log but I might have a TimeMachine backup. Will look for it …

This problem should be fixed in libpurple 2.7.0. It is able to handle HTML over ICQ now. See  http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10391 for details.
