My display picture does not propagate to my contacts

Since I've got the latest BETA release (=1,3b7), contacts complain that my picture can't be fetched at all. They always see the blue msn figure in their picture box. Are there more users with this problem?

Yeah I have also had this happen and it's been reported in #10263, though that bug report isn't the same problem. Therefore we shall use this as the appropriate bug!

Please capture a debug log as per CurrentAdiumDebug of the event of changing your display picture while only connected to MSN, and attach it here (please do not paste it in the window).

oke, so I also find out the Beta also has problems with fetching the pic of a MSN contact. I placed a debug log, as you can see above.

Almost forgot: my debug log is based on changing my own picture just one time. Looks like it's doing a lot for just a single change of picture.

The log is quite verbose right now, but as the crashes get solved the verbosity can be lowered.

I've got Adium 1.3b10 now installed. Pictures of contacts do seem to propagate just right. But propagating my own pics still seems to have some troubles. Contacts are saying the see the first picture from when Adium starts up, but when you change it during operation it doesn't propagate the change correctly.

I forgot to get the log from that moment, so I will upload it a bit later. But my question is: do others have the same issue?

don't know if this is useful but microsoft live messenger users can't see my pictures, but pidgin user (bleeding edge versions with msn15 and NOT using pecan) can see it.

Let's fix this please, it's been months and now it's in a official release (1.3).

Hey guys,

I'm rather new to all of this. I have been careful not to open a new ticket, so I think this is the place I need to be. My problem is as described in the title of this ticket. I am using the latest beta version I think (1.3.1b1). I have noticed that when I logg onto msn via the origional msn messenger and then back off and in again using Adium, those contacts who I spoke to using msn messenger during my time signed onto it, could infact still see my display pic even when closing msn and logging back onto my account using Adium. However, those I did not speak to, continue to not see my display pic.

Dont know if this helps any? I also am finding this terribly frustrating now and hope my contribution helps fix this.

I have found an earlier version of Adium (1.2.7) and have replaced 1.3.1b1 with it. I can confirm that my display pic now propagates to all msn contacts. Least you know to look no further than this far back to know it stopped working :-)

It really gives us the users ct, when you just bump up a release. We're waiting for a fix a long time now....and still it hasn't been fixed in 1.3.1

I'm not being paid to work on this, I'm doing it in my free time. Nobody has said there is a fix for this issue, I have tried to reproduce it, but it works just fine here.

If you so desperately need this fix, you can put your money where your mouth is, and get busy compiling Adium, and msn-pecan. I would gladly help you to tune the debug logging to track the issue.

At the very least you should put a complete debug log.

Also, is it just WLM contacts or everyone (Adium, Pidgin)?

Some people have offered to help on this one which I appreciate a lot.

So the truth is that I probably need to add some debugging in order to find out the issue, but since I can't compile for OS X I need someone to do it. Adium has a wiki with information regarding that.  here.

I recommend using a tarball for libpurple, then you need to install  git and get the latest msn-pecan.

Maybe one guy could work on this so the other interested people can just use that build in order to generate debug logs.

Anyone up for the task?

As Robby mentioned, the 1.3.2b1 AdiumBeta is out and it should fix this problem (I know I haven't had any trouble with display picture propagation while using a p15 enabled build). Waiting on confirmation from users subscribed to this ticket.
