Missing MSN display pictures ...

Adium is not downloading my buddies' DPs when I log in to MSN. It's not a matter of time...I'm using the betas for days, and I still don't have some of the DPs. I don't get any of my friends' DPs unless i'm already signed in at the moment they become online. If they change DPs while I'm signed in, I receive the new pictures almost instantly. I've already tried the troubleshooting tips...trashed xtras & preferences, cleared caches, etc. The problem persists...I'm sure this is a bug.

Steps to reproduce:

1. sign out from MSN 2. delete the .png files located in ~/Library/Caches/Adium/Default 3. sign in to MSN 4. WAIT :) (You'll only get your buddies' DPs when you see them signing in...or if they change DPs while you (and they) are signed in.)

Console log at sign-in shows:

I think most people didn't notice this because the problem occurs only at sign-in...later you get the DPs as you are online and your buddies sign in and out...or they just change DPs while you (and they) are online. This is an important problem, because when you log in to MSN, you can't be sure that the DPs shown by Adium are the correct ones. If you see any. :)

My limited testing shows that the problem is not directly related to msn-pecan, because it exists in the MSNP15-enabled unofficial builds as well. It may be related to changes made for integrating msn-pecan. It looks like that the bug was introduced somwhere between rev. 24028 and 24077. So the latest betas all suffer from this.

Adium version: 1.3b7 + previous betas, r24077 & r24106 & r24179 from trunk with MSNP15-enabled libpurple. OS version: 10.5.4.

Additional info: I think that tickets  #10066 and  #10263 refer to the same problem.

This is the way all msn clients behave; they can only download the pictures once the other user is actually online at the same time as you.

I know. But the problem is that Adium doesn't download the display pictures of users who are already online at the time I sign in.

Now I see that my description may be misleading. I mean Adium is not downloading the DPs of my ONLINE buddies, who were already online at the time I signed in.

It's OK, my description of the problem wasn't the best. However, I made another mistake. This ticket is not related to Adium 1.2.7b, but 1.3b7. Should I file a new ticket with the correct version info, or wait for somebody to move this one to the right place?

I wouldn't worry about it - someone who does have permission do modify the field will see your comment and do so!

Do not create duplicates. You even pointed to the ticket (#10263) that this is a duplicate of, and is placed in it's correct location of 'waiting on msn-pecan'.
