The developers are aware of this problem and ask you to please not comment unless you have new information to add. We appreciate your interest, but a thousand comments saying “Same here” are not helpful. Thank you. —The management

I can not connect because my "ICQ Client is too old". I've attached a screenshot of the error message. Here the translation into English:

"(ICQ) Error: The Client-Version which you are yousing is too old. Please update under:  http://pidgin.im/"

I'm using the Adium 1.3 Beta and Mac OS X 10.4.11. I'm using MSN parallel to ICQ.

Other questions?

Same thing here!
If the ICQ Protocol version libpurple supports is too outdated, this is gonna be a serious problem!

the same here Adium 1.2.5, OSX 10.5.3

I'm having the same problem. I tried to upgrade from 1.2.5 to 1.3 Beta5 to no avail. I've also posted to ICQ forums:  http://www.icq.com/forums/index.php?act=view_topic&group_id=400&topic_id=176034&forum_page=1 and apparently people are having problems with all kind of clients: Pidgin, etc. It seems as a server-side snafu.

is there any help for this trouble? it's damn uncomfortable. i think it's not with all non-icq clients - i can sign in from Proteus without any troubles, but Adium is definitely better.

Changed 21 months ago by eoys

same with mine (Adium 1.2.5, OSX Leopard). ICQ also forced every windows-ICQ 5.1 user to upgrade. None of them can log in without using ICQ 6.

They have to make libPurple fake the protocol version it supports. Let's hope they make it quick.

same here : adium 1.2.5 - Mac OS X 10.5.4 the error is : The client version you are using is too old. Please upgrade at  http://pidgin.im/

http://pidgin.im/ - troubles again, "Safari could not open the page “ http://pidgin.im/” because the server stopped responding."

  • component changed from Adium Core to ICQ
  • milestone set to Waiting on libpurple

Changed 21 months ago by phriedrich

semi-off topic hint for those who „need” ICQ: iChat still works with it.

Changed 21 months ago by eoys

Proteus works with ICQ, too. It's an acceptable alternative for adium

Can someone explain it for dummies how to fix this? I am on a Mac and it looks like pidgin is not for Mac.

Am I not able to use Adium anymore?
